JAAB Tech is a multi-disciplinary technology firm based in Uruguay, spearheading a high-stakes initiative to digitize the South American livestock market—a sector with over 250 million cattle in the Mercosur region alone.

Currently in its early research and strategic investment phase, this initiative is accelerated by upcoming 2026 EUDR mandates and Uruguay's ANII 2025 Traceability Challenge. We seek manufacturing design partners (ODM/OEM) and technology providers to support our evolution from R&D prototypes to field pilots and rapid regional commercial deployment.

2. Our Vision: Technology for the "Deep Field"

Livestock tracking in South America demands hardware that is "Invisible, Immortal, and Inexpensive". While global initiatives like Halter (NZ) or Ceres Tag prove feasibility at scale, they struggle to adapt to South America due to high costs or dependency on fixed infrastructure.

Our development centers on eliminating fixed infrastructure—removing costly towers, land access, and power installations in remote grazing areas. Our high-level tech stack focuses on:

  • Immortal Design: Battery life matches the 5-year lifecycle of the animal, eliminating operational maintenance.
  • Sub-GHz Mesh: A resilient, low-power mesh tailored for vast, infrastructure-free environments.
  • Zephyr RTOS Ecosystem: Built on Zephyr RTOS for a secure and scalable foundation in ruggedized edge devices.
  • Mobile Backhaul: Integrating multi-modal connectivity (Cellular/NTN) directly on moving assets avoids the "Infrastructure Trap". Standard LoRaWAN deployments are often too complicated for ranchers to build and maintain across the remote South American pampas.

3. What We Are Seeking

While engaged in advanced technical discussions with global leaders in Satellite NTN, Energy Harvesting, and European design houses, we need the strategic piece in China to bridge high-quality engineering with competitive pricing for mass-regional adoption. We seek collaboration in:

  1. Contract Manufacturing (ODM): Partners to adapt our designs for high-volume production, including IP68+ ruggedization (ID/MD). Note: Ear-tags must maintain a maximum weight of 20 grams.
  2. Existing Solutions: Providers with proven, ruggedized livestock products that can integrate into the JAAB platform.

While the Livestock Monitoring Initiative is our primary current focus, we draw upon over 25 years of leadership experience in mission-critical telematics, automotive tracking (including the Brazil national tracking mandate), and financial-grade payment systems.

A Technical Bridge: Unlike typical regional importers, JAAB Tech acts as a technology co-developer. We provide the high-level architecture, firmware strategies (based on Zephyr RTOS), and active engineering support to ensure that Chinese hardware succeeds in the specific, demanding conditions of South American ranching. We apply the same rigorous standards of high availability payments infrastructure to our livestock monitoring systems.
